Our purpose is to provide mental health services supporting the clients sense of well-being, and assisting in the development of healthy choices.
Northwest Associates, Inc., under the supervision of Clinical Director Dr. Marcel Chappuis, Ph.D., offers mental health services locally. The services provided by Northwest Associates, Inc. include: Individual therapy, Adoption group, Addiction group, Anger Management group, Survivors of Sexual Abuse group, and Self-Harm group as well as Basic and Complete Psychological Evaluations. - Adoption Group - an all-inclusive program dealing with the issues of adoption. Students will specifically deal with the issues of attachment, abandonment, trust, intimacy, and rejection. Further, the connection with the birth mother and adoptive parents is explored along with the healing process.
- Anger Management Group - students will cover aggressive replacement training along with identification of their own anger cycles, redirection of anger, and interaction in interpersonal relationships.
- Addiction Group - Addiction group encompasses chemical addictions as well as eating, gambling, sexual, self harm, exercise and other addictions. The following is a list of some of the topics that are covered in the group:Stages of Addiction and Recovery, How Drugs affect the Brain and the Body, Free Sharing, What is Addiction?, Facts about Use, Abuse, Dependence and Addiction, Different Types of Recovery, Grief and Loss,Co-Dependency, Denial, Self-Esteem, Relapse Prevention, Cravings, and Family Dynamics.
- Survivors of Sexual Abuse group - This program includes a supportive environment where survivors can learn to cope with their emotional traumas due to sexual crimes.
- Self-Harm Group - Adolescents may harm themselves for a variety of reasons, and in a number of different ways. The facilitator and members create an open, non-judgmental environment where they are encouraged to share and receive neutral feedback and find support from each other. Group members are given the opportunity to develop self-help skills that empower them to replace self-harm activities with non-destructive coping strategies while learning to change their self-limiting beliefs and foster emotional strength and resilience to live healthy happy lives.
Dr. Chappuis has over 30 years of experience and served as the consulting psychologist to the juvenile court system in Salt Lake City, Utah for most of those years. He has also worked in and consulted for residential, day treatment and inpatient hospital programs both regionally and internationally. He has served as the consulting psychologist for Spring Creek Lodge since 2001, providing the school's psychological assessments. We feel that this combination of experience and knowledge as well as familiarity with the school and its staff, will allow us to continue to improve and refine our clinical services.
