Your student's health is a priority to us. SCLA has a resident, registered nurse and assistants who work Monday through Friday. Doctors see students in their office at SCLA weekly on their scheduled days. Students are transported to area doctors and specialists by parent request or student need. New students are required to have a physical when arriving at SCLA. Usually, unless a student has a written doctor's note excusing him or her from physical activity, our students are expected to participate. This is an essential part of out student's road to healthy living. We realize, however, that there are circumstances in which the student may need to be excused for reasons that a doctor may not have been involved. Examples of this might be a bad cold or sinus congestion that we would refer to our nursing staff. Our staff is trained in first aide and CPR and may make decisions within their areas of responsibility. Whenever there is a question about a medical situation, a nurse or doctor will be contacted as needed along with the parent. SCLA cannot accept liability for the performance of any physician, dentist, clinic, or hospital. Students under the supervision of staff, self-administer their medications. All medications are set up by our nurse's station and checked for accuracy and then again by our staff. Enrollment at SCLA is not recommended for students who have medications that are vital to their health. Everything possible is done to make sure students receive their correct medications in a timely manner. For more information on health related subjects, please contact your family representative. Please pursue our listing of available medical personnel in the area. |
