Early this summer, Spring Creek was invited to make a presentation and to facilitate a panel discussion at the 2006 Youth Leadership Summit. The summit is a joint effort of the Gonzaga Ethics Institute and Rotary International. The purpose of the summit is to bring together professionals and students from all over the country to discuss ethics, values, and principles in arenas such as government, business, family, sports and competition, computers and Internet, law, media, medicine, academics, global issues, and friendship. read more

Sanders County’s Spring Creek Lodge Academy has made national news, this time on Good Morning America, Tuesday, June 13, when Claire Fontaine, a Spring Creek graduate, and her mother, Mia Fontaine, a Hollywood screenwriter, spoke on the book they co-wrote, Come Back: A Mother and Daughter’s Journey Through Hell and Back. read more

Spirit Month at Spring Creek Lodge Academy is over at last, and the Marshals and Outlaws have finally ridden off into the sunset. The four rowdy weeks of games, tournaments, and contests always culminates in an all-day party on the last Friday. Up at the main Spring Creek campus, school rolls along year round. The excitement of July’s Spirit Month celebration seems far away. Kids who may have spent last summer at the beaches of California or Florida are thrilled to see the sun, but dismayed to still be in school. The best way to support them as they struggle with restlessness is to make learning as fun as possible. read more

Researchers say that even though you’d like to just go to bed and stay there, the best thing you can do to feel better is to stay active. The 400 or so students at Spring Creek Lodge Academy and its two satellite campuses in Thompson Falls and Hot Springs should be feeling great, if that’s the case . . .

Many SCLA students were not successful in public schools or in traditional private schools for the same reasons they failed in other areas: their learning to learn has been interrupted by something their schools could not address. Removed from the setting that fostered the problems, kids can start the process over where it went wrong.
